Recent events in our country and around the world have once again brought the issues of racism and basic human equality to the forefront of the news, our lives and our conversations. These events remind us that, despite how far we have come, we have further to go. These events have also prompted many of us to dig deep and fully consider, for perhaps the first time, what each of us can do toward a realization of full equality for all. Too many are bearing the disproportionate effect of our failure to treat each individual as we ourselves would like to be treated. There is much to learn and, while painful, there seem to be glimmers of hope on the horizon.
At McMillan Metro we have always valued diversity within our Firm, and we are committed to bringing meaningful change to our country and our region, to healing wounds, mending divisions and fostering mutual understanding. This is what we stand for as an organization and we feel strongly that, at this point in history, it is important to make such a statement. In that vein, we have decided to make a donation to the Maryland Legal Aid’s Equal Justice Council to help foster kind and compassionate citizens of the world. We pledge to continue listening, learning and helping as best we can. We encourage others to similarly act, join in the dialogue and do what they can to make a difference.
